The Truck and Bus Tire sector is currently going through one of its busiest and most interesting periods. The sales of truck and bus tires are projected to reach around 600 million units for 2018. The increase in sales is a reflection of the increased purchase of trucks for fleet management companies and other areas. In addition to this, the development, production and export of Chinese TBR is significantly affecting the European market in term of competition.
On the other hand EU announced imposing tariffs on the TBR tires from China due to the dumping disagreements. This decision is already affecting Chinese TBR as their prices started to increase. In addition, the EU Commission’s Phase 2 Rolling Resistance requirements comes into effect in 2018, as tire manufacturers will now have to work according to these new requirements. Sustainability is coming front and center as there is an increase in tire recycling, especially in Europe, and there is constant investments in the development of more sustainable tire compounds.
