Why This Event Now
Whist electrification is not yet wide spread in the marine industry, it is a growing trend and with the support of many regulatory bodies such as the EU and the International Maritime Organization (IMO) it is set to expand. It is the likes of new emission targets and the increasing price of oil that are providing the real drive for this change. In the same way as for our road-based electrification events, when we have such a dramatic change in an industry it is not just the propulsion systems that will change, but also the infrastructure to support this change. For example, changing stations, battery packs, electrical grid infrastructure and issues with recycling will come to the forefront. On the other hand, we are adding to the conference theme this year “Alternative fuels” that is also connected to zero emissions at ports and short and deep sea operating vessels. This development of new industries surrounding marine electrification then position our event as a great opportunity for sponsors to market their goods & solutions.
